Athletes in good standing at Rocky Mountain High School have the opportunity to earn a variety of academic awards throughout the school year. These recognition programs reward students who combine academic achievement with success in athletics. The awards and their respective criteria are:
ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE
Winners of the Academic All-Conference Certificate must letter in his or her sport and have earned a minimum of 3.5 GPA the previous semester. The Northern Conference does not incorporate this award.
ACADEMIC ALL-STATE
Academic All-State recipients must be a junior or senior, must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.6 (first team) or 3.3 to 3.59 (honorable mention) and must have lettered in his or her sport.
HONOR ATHLETES
Rocky Mountain High School Honor Athletes must complete a minimum of two athletic seasons in good standing and achieve a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA at the end of the third term of the current school year.
1st year Honor Athlete receives certificate
2nd year Honor Athlete receive certificate and pin
3rd year Honor Athlete receives certificate and 3rd year patch
4th year Honor Athlete receives certificate and 4th year patch
TROXELL AWARD & LOBO AWARDS
Troxell and Lobo Award winners are determined by votes of head coaches and administrators from among eligible student athletes. The awards are sponsored by the Parent Athletic Club.
A candidate for the Troxell and Lobo Awards must meet the following criteria:
-Be a graduating senior who has achieved distinction as a team member in one or more sports.
-Have been a team member in at least one sport (not necessarily the same sport) during his or her sophomore, junior and senior years in the Poudre School District.
-Be recognized as a good citizen in his/her school and community.
-Have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher. Preference is given to students eligible under criteria 1, 2 and 3 whose GPA's are higher.
WAYNE MODDELMOG AWARD
Outstanding Senior Athletes – Male and Female are selected by a vote of head coaches, who participated in 2 or more sports their senior year. Award named after Wayne Moddelmog, for his 24 years of service to Rocky. Wayne exemplified the characteristics of the Lobo Way and instilled character and leadership into the athletic program. Athletes chosen for the Wayne Moddelmog award exemplify the same traits in both their sport and in the community.
